The other day, I decided to take the day off and spend some quality time with my kids at a theme park. It was a day of laughter, discovery, and reflection. Yet, I found myself wondering:
One moment, in particular, stood out. My youngest child hesitated to try new play areas, even though they were marked as suitable for her age. Her sibling called out enthusiastically, encouraging her to join, but she clung to the play zone sheโd enjoyed last year. Even though she had outgrown it, she insisted,
I saw myself in her hesitation. Isnโt this often how we navigate life? Resorting to whatโs familiar and comfortable, even when weโve outgrown it?

The new play area represented change, a step into the unknown. And letโs face it, growth and change are often intimidating. Staying in our comfort zones feels safer, but it also keeps us from reaching new heights.
I gently reminded her that last year, she had been equally hesitant about the area she now found so familiar. It was only through trying that she came to enjoy it. Isnโt that true of lifeโs milestones?

This reminded me of Godโs call to Abraham in Genesis 12:1; โGo from your country, your people and your fatherโs household to the land I will show you.โ Faith often asks us to leave the comfortable and step into the uncertain, trusting that God has something greater in store.
By the end of our time at the park, my child cautiously ventured into the new area. Her laughter was louder, her confidence visibly growing. It was a small victory, but one that spoke volumes.
As adults, weโre no different. Whether itโs a new job, a deeper level of faith, or healing from past wounds, we often cling to the known, even when it no longer serves us.
But God gently beckons us: โ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐ด๐.
So, hereโs my reflection for today:
Letโs embrace growth, even when it feels scary. The most beautiful experiences often lie just outside our comfort zones.
